At Hatfield Gateway, volunteers play a central role in illuminating the lives of our members through events and experiences held at the McDonalds centre in Hatfield. 

Our events and activities are powered by the commitment of individuals like you, who bring their time and passion to create a vibrant community hub for those with learning disabilities.

What Does Being A Gateway Volunteer Mean?

At Hatfield Gateway, volunteering isn’t just an action; it’s a bridge to brighter lives, strengthened bonds, and personal enrichment. Volunteer Responisbilities

Any & all help is welcome but here are somethings you can do to make the evening the best it can be.

Arrive early to help set up for the event. Your efforts ensure that everything is ready to create a welcoming environment.

During the event, from sports to creative activities, your interaction with members is what makes the moments special. Your warmth and support can brighten someone’s day.

Dance, laugh, and enjoy the disco alongside our members. Your enthusiasm can turn a simple dance into a memory they’ll cherish.

If you’re inclined, lend a hand at our shop or café, making the event even more convenient and enjoyable for everyone.

As the event winds down, help with closing tasks to ensure everything concludes smoothly.

Anyone can help in some way. But our Volunteers need to be at least 16 years old to apply for the Advanced DBS check required. Additional training may be needed or given based on the volunteer role.

Being a Volunteer, no matter the time offered is both fulfilling and rewarding, Providing many real life skills & It’s a great accreditation for your CV.

Fill out the application form & we’ll be in touch to determine what time you can offer & how best you can help.

Unfortunately we can’t offer any form of payment to volunteers other than the gratitue and love of our members. But if you have the time to offer we greatly appriciate you!

We offer Dominoes, a Disco, Sports & Various Arts & Crafts. Some Volunteers offer their own unique skills on a rotational basis such as facepainting, nail polish art & various crafts if you have a skill you’d like to offer we’re happy to work with you on creating a suitable activity around it.

Our website application forms are the best way, or you can reach out on Facebook. We may setup a Shared Phone in the future to help keep members and volunteers alike informed.

Any Emergency Cancellations of events will be notified in the Private Facebook Group as soon as possible. All members and Volunteers will be added to the group on successful applications.

Standard Events are weekly on a Friday Night, however volunteer depending we’d like to offer special monthly or one- off activities but only if we have additional, extra volunteers available.

All events will be held at the Macdonalds centre in Hatfield. If an event is to be held elsewhere everyone will be notified in good time via the Facebook Group.
